FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH To Host Second Annual 'Love Songs For Tough Guys' Special
February 7, 2011This Valentine's Day weekend, Los Angeles metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will host their second annual "Love Songs For Tough Guys" program. The show features FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and their favorite hard rock and metal songs that represent Valentine's Day from a guy's perspective, or as the band calls it, "Forced Enthusiasm Day."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH explains why it created the special: "Behind every successful man, there's a woman rolling her eyes, and no matter how tough you think you are, if on this cheesy holiday you decide to neglect the ladies (even if she says she doesn't care),you will pay for it later... and pay dearly." The band continues, "So make that reservation and take her to that damn restaurant. However, the niceties must have a limit. While you're driving to that restaurant you are still not going to listen to her LADY GAGA CD, or you might as well shave your testicles too. So, we made this compilation for you as a survivable compromise: 'Love Songs For Tough Guys'."
The Valentine's Day special, which will feature music from STONE SOUR, DEFTONES, OZZY OSBOURNE and more, was aired last year on over 45 stations nationally. This year's program already looks as though it will surpass last year's number, with stations such as WMMR in Philadelphia, WAAF in Boston, KOMP in Las Vegas and WIIL in Chicago among the many who will be carrying it.
"We're very excited to once again be presenting this unique program from one of rock's brightest artists," said FMQB VP/Operations Michael Parrish. "'Love Songs For Tough Guys' is now a benchmark event for many of our affiliates that we look forward to providing annually."
Be sure to check your local listings to see when and where "Love Songs For Tough Guys" will air in your town this Valentine's Day.
Speaking of love and tough guys, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory happened to dish out some tough love recently at the Abu Dhabi Pro World Trials jiu-jitsu championship by winning the silver medal in his division. Zoltan has already won Metal Hammer's prestigious Golden Gods "Best Shredder" ward, but it seems he's taken to shredding over to the mats, collecting some more shiny hardware as the member of the overall champion team "Team Mica" (training under professor Don Charley and Mica Cipili).
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH have always been a metal band that threw down hard, but now "throwing down" has a whole new meaning.
Ironically, even though Zoltan took home the silver, he doesn't have to wait long for some gold: both of the band's albums, "The Way Of The Fist" and "War Is The Answer", are about to be certified gold for U.S. shipments in excess of 500,000 copies.
